Abstract: Large scale stellar surveys have significantly updated our view of our home Galaxy to reveal a Milky Way in disarray, This limits our ability to use classic equilibrium models to interpret the data. It also presents an opportunity to learn from the disarray itself. This talk reviews some active research in this area, from microscopic to macroscopic scales.
