Abstract: In preparation for the CITA 5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel Championship this Friday (February 28th), this talk will provide a comprehensive introduction to the rules and mechanics of 5D chess. Building on the foundational knowledge of how pieces move in standard 2D chess (a prerequisite for this talk, though advanced strategies and theory are not required), we will explore the extension of chess into higher dimensions and the unique rules governing time travel within the game. Key concepts such as parallel timelines, branching boards, and checkmate conditions will be discussed.Additionally, we will examine advanced strategies like the Jurassic Rook, Terminator Gambit, and King-Delivered Checkmates, and work through illustrative puzzles to solidify understanding of the game’s mechanics. The talk will conclude with organizational details for the championship event.
