GW170817: Observation of gravitational waves from a binary neutron star inspiral

Abstract: We’ll discuss the observation of the first binary neutron star merger using gravitational waves. We will also give an overview of the multimessenger observations and highlight some of the inferred physics from this extraordinary event.
