(New?) opportunities & challenges in gravitational wave astronomy (for fundamental questions)

Abstract: LIGO”s recent (and ongoing?) observations of gravitational waves present an exciting challenge to extract rich physics that can guide our understanding of gravity at a fundamental level in non-linear regimes. This talk will discuss a way to combine information from multiple events to deeply analyze the merger of two black holes allowing for testing the no-hair property and discuss a novel, but not new, program to help extract relevant information in many extensions to General Relativity in regimes relevant to gravitational wave astronomy.
