Abstract: Maps of the intensity of Gravitational Wave Backgrounds (GWB) on the sky will be a key output of future gravitational wave characterisation efforts such as the LISA mission. GWB maps will also hold a wealth of astrophysical and cosmological information. I will discuss what we expect to see in GWBs and then introduce a map-making method for gravitational wave data. I will also present preliminary results of an application to advanced LIGO data.
