Outreach
I have presented multiple public talks at “Sterrenwachten” around the Netherlands. I contributed to the various outreach events organized at the annual open days at the University of Amsterdam (2007-2011) and at Princeton University (2011-2014) (for that purpose I have translated NOVA outreach materials to English). I was volunteer assistant of Marieke Baan during the year of Astronomy (IYA) in 2009, planning and organizing several events during the year. In 2010 I was one of the universal awareness program (UNAWE) coordinators at the UvA.
I was part of the team that proposed a community operated search for Gamma Ray bursts for the academic year prize 2006 (PI’s Ralph Wijers and Klaas Wiersema).

Recently I contributed to a workshop in Sitka Alaska which was set to maximize the interaction with the local community (in addition scientific collaboration between the workshop attendees). We did several interviews (see e.g. radio interview below) on the radio and in the local newspaper. We organized outreach talks and a ‘Ask a physicist’ event, where we answered all possible questions from the public. We plan to organize this workshop on a yearly basis.
