README FILE FOR rcompact DESCRIPTION: Export program to read compact summary files of populations from Martin, Schwarz, and Mandy 1996, ApJ, 461, 265. (for A values and energies see readme_export in the ftp subdirectory above this) (for collision rates see Martin and Mandy 1995, ApJ, 455, L89 or the ftp subdirectory ../../h2hdist). rcompact reads in the populations and includes an interactive test/request. [e.g., for 2000 K and n = 1.d4 cm-3, the population of the (4,5) state (column index 212) is 5.407951280003359D-07] Individual subroutines can be broken out and adapted for other uses. FOR EXAMPLE -- EMISSION LINE EMISSIVITIES: To generate emission line emissivities (ergs cm-3 per H2), use these populations and the above-mentioned A values and energies. Use vjcol to find the column index of the initial (j) and final (i) states. Then the emissivity is pop(j)*a(i,j)*(ecol(j)-ecol(i))*1.9864476e-16. REQUIRED FILE AND DATASETS: rcompact.f, msm* TO RETRIEVE VIA ANONYMOUS FTP: ftp -i ftp.cita.utoronto.ca anonymous cd cita/pgmartin/master/data get rcompact.f mget msm*.Z TO COMPILE AND RUN: uncompres msm* f77 rcompact.f -o rcompact rcompact Have fun.
