ABSTRACT:Turbulence seen in the subcondensation TMC-1C in Heiles' cloud 2 of the Taurus complex was observed using a 45 m telescope of Nobeyama Radio
observatory to reveal the detailed velocity and spatial structures of the
turbulence in molecular clouds and to understand the influence of turbulence on
star formation.
The autocorrelation functions (ACFs) of the velocity
fields of the (C-13)O and C(O-18) lines have similar correlation lengths of
about 0.03 pc in the 4 x 4 arcmin area, independent of their optical
thickness.
In the 8 x 8 arcmin area the ACF of the (C-13)O velocity field shows a
correlation length of 0.07 pc.
The correlation length defined by the ACF is found to
continuously increase with the increasing size of the analyzed area.
