I am currently a working as a postdoctoral scientist at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics in Toronto, having completed my PhD at the Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik in Garching, Munich.
My main research interests include the study of magnetic phenomena in various astrophysical objects, chiefly in upper-main-sequence stars, white dwarfs and neutron stars. Click here to read more about my research interests..
Here you can look at my travel plans.
opening for a PhD student to start work in Bonn in October 2009 or later. The student will begin a project on the accretion of material onto neutron stars, and will also be involved in projects concerning magnetic processes during star formation and relaxation onto the zero-age main-sequence. As a member of the Stellar Astrophysics group, the student will have the opportunity to interact with researchers working on similar topics, as well as with the large number of other astrophysicists at the Argelander Institute for Astronomy and the neighbouring Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. Please email for more details.
Matt Browning and I are giving a mini-course entitled "An Introduction to Astrophysical Magnetohydrodynamics". It takes place every Tuesday at 3pm in room 1318. Download the accompanying notes (somewhat incomplete).
