CITA director Dick Bond has been named an Officer in the Order of Canada. According to the Government of Canada: "The Order of Canada was established in 1967 to recognize outstanding achievement and service in various fields of human endeavour. It is our country's highest honour for lifetime achievement."
The citation reads:
"One of our pre-eminent theoretical astrophysicists and cosmologists,
Richard Bond has been instrumental in establishing Canada as a major
world centre for research in cosmology. As Director of the Cosmology
and Gravity Program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, he
has helped to build an outstanding network of scientists from around
the globe. A founding member and Director of the Canadian Institute for
Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Toronto, where he is also
a Professor, he has enhanced the Institute's mandate and international
reputation. An inspirational leader and mentor, he continues his
pioneering work on the structure formation and evolution of the universe."
