CITA Professor Bond Named to Order of Ontario

Provinces most prestigious honour granted to Bond, ``whose work on the structure, formation, and evolution of the Universe helped establish Ontario as a centre for cosmology research.''

Toronto, ON, Dec 19 -- Richard Bond, Professor and past Director of the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, was named today to the Province of Ontario's most prestigious honour, the Order of Ontario.

Bond is one of 27 recipients this year, representing Ontarians who have achieved excellence in fields from science to social issues. The award ``recognizes Ontarians who have made an outstanding contribution to society in Ontario and around the world,'' and is presented by the Lieutenant Governor.


About the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics. The Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (CITA) is a world-class, nationally supported, research center for studies in theoretical astrophysics and related subjects hosted by the University of Toronto. The primary missions of CITA are to foster interaction within the Canadian theoretical astrophysics community and to serve as an international center of excellence for theoretical studies in astrophysics. CITA receives research support from a collaborative special project grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), as well as the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIAR).
