The Coffee-Getters

The `coffee supplies' job --- which rotates from one coffee drinker to the next on a monthly basis --- is essential to CITA's functioning! This job requires the job-ee to keep an eye on CITA coffee supplies and make sure there's always enough.

Coffee supplies here means:

  • Coffee beans
  • Milk
  • Cream
  • Sugar
  • Tea

Some of these things can be bought in one huge go and stockpiled;the dairy things of course can't...

As an example, in March we went through

  • 4kg of coffee ( ~$70)
  • 1kg of sugar( ~$10)
  • 1 box tea ( ~$4 )
  • ~8l/week milk ( ~$10/wk ~ $40)
  • 1-2l/week cream ( ~$5 /wk ~ $20)

At the end of the month, take your reciepts to Candace for reimbursment. Sugar (preferably in the cardboard "milk carton" containers which re-seal nicely), milk (preferably %1 or %2), and cream ("half-and-half" or even "light") can be bought from the 7-11 at Spadina and College, or wherever your favourite place is.

Espresso beans are best bought by the 1kg bag from the coffee/sweets shop on Baldwin near the corner of Baldwin & Augusta (beside the cafe) in Kensington Market; it's ~$17/kg, and a bag remains fresh for about 2 months unopened, so feel free to stock up at the start of the month. You sometimes need to ask for a receipt. It's important to get this coffee or something very similar; coffee which is too oily (normally a good thing!) or flavoured coffee will jam up our coffee maker, causing everyone to be very cross at you.
