2001 – John Bahcall

Prof. Bahcall is the recipient of many prestigious awards including the U.S. National Medal of Science, the Hans Bethe Prize of the American Physics Society and the Russell Prize of the American Astronomical Society.

He is a past president of the American Astronomical Society, and wrote the Bahcall Report which defined the direction of Astronomy in the U.S.in the 90’s.

Prof. Bahcall gave both a public lecture, entitled “How Does the Sun Shine?”, and a technical talk entitled “Solar Neutrinos in the SNO era” when he visited CITA in November of 2001.
